14 former international cricket captains have urged the Pakistan government to treat Imran Khan fairly.
Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar are among 14 former international cricket captains who have asked Pakistan’s government for proper medical treatment, dignified incarceration conditions, and a fair trial for Imran Khan.

The previous captains recalled Khan’s leadership in guiding Pakistan to a historic Cricket World Cup victory in 1992, describing it as one founded on resilience, sportsmanship, and inspiration that transcended borders. They emphasised that Khan, regardless of political affiliation, deserves humanitarian treatment and equal legal access.

The appeal comes only days after Khan was checked by a team of doctors on February 15 after complaining about acute vision loss in his right eye. Pakistan’s Supreme Court ordered a thorough medical examination before February 16. While authorities suggested he be transferred to a hospital, physicians instead visited Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.
Khan’s party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, questioned the examination’s methodology. Khan claimed to have lost approximately 85 percent of his eyesight in his right eye, according to a party lawyer.
Khan, who was Prime Minister from 2018 to 2022, has been in jail since August 2023 and is facing several politically driven charges. Wasim Akram, a former teammate, has already pushed authorities to guarantee that he receives the finest possible medical treatment.
