IAEA Reports No Harm to Israel’s Nuclear Facility in Negev

Austria: Israel’s Negev nuclear research site showed no signs of damage, according to a Sunday statement from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The organization stated that it was aware of the Dimona event and that it was monitoring the issue.

The IAEA said in a post to X

“The IAEA is aware of reports of an incident involving a missile impact in the city of Dimona, Israel, and has not received any indication of damage to the nuclear research center Negev,” the IAEA wrote in a post to X. No anomalous radiation levels have been found, according to data from regional states.

Rafael Mariano Grossi, the IAEA’s director general, urged the highest level of military restraint.

“Closely monitoring the case, Director General Rafael Grossi stressed that ‘maximum military restraint should be noticed in particular in the vicinity of nuclear plants.”

 

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke to the mayors of Dimona (Benny Biton) and Rishon LeZion (Raz Kinstlich).

The Office of Netanyahu wrote on X

Netanyahu’s Office posted on X that “Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke this evening with Dimona Mayor Benny Biton and Rishon LeZion Mayor Raz Kinstlich.” The prime minister wished those hurt by the Iranian bombardment a speedy recovery and thanked the people for their perseverance.

 

Over 70 people have been injured in two different Israeli civilian neighbourhoods, according to IDF International Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani.

“In just a few hours, over seventy individuals have been injured in two different civilian neighbourhoods in Israel,” he wrote in an article on X. These attacks show how civilian people are the target of Iranian terrorism. The Iranian leadership’s deliberate targeting of civilians with heedless strikes that only serve to highlight its instability and contempt for human life is becoming increasingly apparent.”

 

Iran claimed to be targeting Dimona, the location of Israel’s main nuclear research facility, in “response” to an earlier attack on the nuclear enrichment plant at Natanz. The Israel Defence Forces denied any role in the attack on Natanz, according to The Times of Israel.
