Authorities said the aircraft, a twin-engine Beechcraft 55, lost power on both engines shortly after departing from nearby Merritt Island for an instructional flight. The pilot then tried an emergency landing on Interstate 95, but collided with a beige 2023 Toyota Camry in the center lane.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the plane included a 27-year-old pilot and a 27-year-old passenger, both of whom were unharmed. The Camry was driven by a 57-year-old lady who was taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries.
