French President Emmanuel Macron’s Morning Run in Mumbai Delivers Strong Message to Young People: MEA

Mumbai: Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the External Affairs Ministry, claimed that French President Emmanuel Macron’s jog on Marine Drive in Mumbai sent a positive message about health to youth.

“Mumbai hosts numerous marathons. And having this type of public exposure focused on health sends a very positive message to the youth of India and around the world. I believe that is the sentiment with which we should approach President Macron’s tour in Mumbai,” the MEA official said during a media conference.

Earlier on Tuesday, French President Emmanuel Macron startled Mumbai residents by joining the stream of morning walkers in the city. The French President was spotted jogging with a group of security agents, which included French and Indian authorities.

The jog went smoothly, with little interference from the media and people along the way. Macron, dressed in a navy blue T-shirt and black sunglasses, chose not to break his training routine despite being in a foreign country and facing a long day of diplomatic engagements.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Emmanuel Macron met in Mumbai to discuss bilateral cooperation in the industrial, defence, clean energy, space, and emerging technologies sectors. PM Modi stated that the relationship between the two countries is for “global stability and progress.”

In an X post, PM Modi stated, “Had extensive discussions with President Macron in Mumbai. Today’s meeting is significant because we have elevated the India-France partnership to a Special Global Strategic Partnership. Our alliance is for global stability and progress. We talked about cooperation in industry, defence, clean energy, space, and emerging technologies. Our countries will also establish strong networks between start-ups and SMEs, facilitate student and researcher exchanges, and create new cooperative innovation centers.”

The French President and Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the India-France Year of Innovation 2026 at Mumbai’s Gateway of India.

Macron is presently on his fourth trip to India. After the Mumbai leg of bilateral discussions, Macron will go to New Delhi to attend the AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam.
