Donald Trump Russia-Ukraine peace : Donald Trump, the president of the United States, declared that his strategy to put an end to the conflict in Ukraine has been “fine-tuned” and that he will be sending two envoys to separate meetings with Moscow and Kyiv. Trump states that Army Secretary Dan Driscoll would communicate with Ukrainian officials, while Steve Witkoff will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In a Truth Social post, Trump stated, “Over the past week, my team has made significant progress in terms of stopping the War between Russia and Ukraine (A War that would have NEVER begun if I were President!). A total of 25,000 soldiers killed last month. The initial 28-Point Peace Plan, developed by the United States, has been fine-tuned with additional input from both parties, leaving only a few issues of contention. In order to finalize this Peace Plan, I have directed my Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to meet with President Putin in Moscow, while Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll will meet with Ukrainian officials.”

Donald Trump Russia-Ukraine peace : Trump might meet with Putin and Zelenskyy
Trump also stated that he may meet with Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a later date, but only if “further progress” is made in the negotiations.
“I will be briefed on all progress made, along with Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles,” the president said on social media.
“I hope to meet with President Zelenskyy and President Putin shortly, but only when the accord to stop the war is finalized or in its final stages. Thank you for your attention to this critical issue, and let us all hope that PEACE can be achieved as soon as possible!”
Trump’s strategy to end the almost four-year war was unveiled last week. It strongly benefitted Russia, forcing Zelenskyy to immediately engage with American negotiators. European officials, fearful for their own future in the face of Russian aggression but seemingly sidelined by Trump in the proposal-making process, raced to guide the negotiations toward addressing their worries.
Large-scale Ukrainian drone attack
Tensions erupted on the ground even as diplomatic attempts continued. While the talks were ongoing, Russia conducted midnight air raids on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, killing at least seven people and damaging residential structures and energy facilities.
In reaction, Ukrainian soldiers launched a drone attack on Russia’s southern Krasnodar area. Local authorities described it as “one of the longest and most massive” drone strikes, with three people killed and many homes damaged. Governor Veniamin Kondratyev reported six individuals wounded in the attack.

In retaliation, the Russian Defense Ministry stated that their air defenses shot down 249 Ukrainian drones overnight throughout many Russian areas and the seized Crimean Peninsula.
Long journey to peace
Late Monday, Zelenskyy announced that “the list of necessary steps to end the war can become workable.” He stated that he intended to discuss “sensitive” pending problems with Trump.
Rustem Umerov, Zelenskyy’s top aide, wrote on X on Tuesday that Zelenskyy intended to reach an agreement with Trump “at the earliest suitable date in November.”
Russian authorities have been restrained in their responses to the peace plan. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated Tuesday that Moscow is in contact with US authorities over peace initiatives.
“We expect them to provide us with a version they consider an interim one in terms of completing the phase of coordinating this text with the Europeans and the Ukrainians,” Mr. Lavrov explained.
European leaders have warned that the road to peace will be long.
