Sergio Gor, the US Ambassador to India, announced on Sunday that US President Donald Trump has invited India to join the ‘Board of Peace’ aimed at addressing the Gaza situation. India maintains long-standing ties with both Israel and Palestine and has been supplying humanitarian aid to Gaza via Egypt since the crisis began.
“I am honored to deliver President Donald J. Trump’s invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to join the Board of Peace, which aims to bring lasting peace to Gaza. The Board will work to establish stability and prosperity through competent governance,” Gor stated.
India has consistently advocated for a peaceful resolution to the conflict. Prime Minister Narendra Modi previously welcomed the agreement between Israel and Palestine on the release of hostages and reiterated that terrorism in any form is unacceptable.
“We appreciate the agreement on the release of captives and the expansion of humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza. Terrorism in any form or manifestation is unacceptable anywhere in the world,” PM Modi wrote on X (formerly Twitter) in October last year following a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Donald Trump Also Extends Invitation to Pakistan
Notably, President Trump has also invited Pakistan to join Gaza’s ‘Board of Peace’. However, Pakistan’s inclusion could raise concerns in Israel, given Islamabad’s historically strained relations with Tel Aviv.
“Pakistan will continue to engage with international efforts to promote peace and security in Gaza, leading to a lasting solution to the Palestinian issue in line with United Nations resolutions,” said a spokesman for Pakistan’s foreign ministry.

Apart from Pakistan, Trump has invited 11 other countries, including Argentina, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, and Morocco. However, not all invited nations have confirmed their participation.
What Is the Gaza ‘Board of Peace’?
The ‘Board of Peace’ was established on January 15 as part of Trump’s 20-point plan to halt hostilities in Gaza. According to the White House, Trump will lead the board, which aims to restore Gaza’s political framework and enhance regional stability.
Other confirmed members include US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and senior negotiators Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff.

“Now it is time to turn these aspirations into reality,” Trump said. “At the heart of the plan is the Board of Peace — the most significant and consequential board ever assembled — which will function as a new International Organization and Transitional Governing Administration.”
The initiative has been approved by the United Nations Security Council.
