Donald Trump Hits Out at Keir Starmer, Says No Need for Allies After War Is Won

Washington, DC [US]: US President Donald Trump harshly chastised UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Saturday for the UK’s lack of support for the US-Israeli strikes on Iran, saying that the European nation is now considering sending aircraft carriers to West Asia.

In a post on Truth Social, US President Donald Trump asserted

Trump claimed in a post on Truth Social that after the US has won a war, it doesn’t need anyone to join it.

“The United Kingdom, our once Great Ally, perhaps the Greatest of them all, is finally giving serious thought to sending two aircraft carriers to the Middle East,” he declared. We don’t need them anymore, Prime Minister Starmer, but we will never forget. People who enter wars after we’ve already won are unnecessary.”

In response to the most recent round of criticism from US President Donald Trump, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer used the UK’s unique friendship in action on Wednesday. Hanging onto Trump’s remarks, according to Starmer, did not indicate that the relationship was working.

“American planes are operating out of British bases,” Starmer stated in a speech to the UK Parliament. That’s the unique relationship at work. On our joint sites in the Middle East, British aircraft are destroying drones and missiles to save American lives. That’s the unique relationship at work. Every day, we exchange intelligence to protect our people. That’s the unique relationship at work. The unique relationship is not being demonstrated by clinging to President Trump’s most recent remarks.

Keir Starmer also defended his decision to stay out of the Iran strike by stating that he had not seen a legitimate reason to intervene.

The US has began using British facilities for some defence operations “to prevent Iran firing missiles into the region, which is putting British lives at risk,” according to a post on X by the UK Ministry of Defence on March 7 that contained operation updates.

Donald Trump referred to the UK’s position on Iran earlier on Tuesday as “very, very uncooperative.” Keir Starmer was attacked by Trump for “ruining relationships” and for not being a “Winston Churchill”.

Trump told reporters at the Oval Office that he was “not happy” with London’s alleged lack of cooperation in the run-up to the strikes on Tehran.

Trump’s most recent outburst coincides with a number of events occurring in the Gulf and West Asia.

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) said on Sunday that the Israeli Air Force had attacked multiple IRGC fuel storage facilities in Tehran.

The IDF previously reported that it attacked two major ballistic missile manufacturing facilities in Shahrud and Parchin. The IDF claims that factories manufacturing explosive materials for ballistic missile warheads, complexes manufacturing special raw materials for missile engines, a facility for mixing and casting missile engines, and a complex utilising advanced cruise missile research, development, assembly, and production were among the targets hit.

Authorities verified the death of a Pakistani motorist in the Al Barsha neighbourhood on Saturday, according to the Dubai Media Office, after debris from an aerial interception struck a car. It also revealed that no injuries had been reported in a minor event that officials had acknowledged occurred on the front of a tower in Dubai Marina.

On Sunday, the IRNA asserted that a refinery in Haifa was struck, citing the IRGC. A post on X stated, “IRGC: The Haifa refinery was struck by Kheibarshekan missiles.”

Hezbollah claimed to have fired rockets against Kiryat Shmona and launched missiles toward the Haifa naval facility, according to Al Jazeera Breaking.

These developments follow rising tensions following a joint US-Israeli military strike on Iranian territory on February 28 that killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the country’s supreme leader, and other high-ranking officials. Tehran responded angrily.

Iran responded by attacking US assets and allies throughout the region, including Israel, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan, with ballistic missiles and drones. This widened the conflict in West Asia and increased the risks for both civilians and foreigners.
