Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, the biggest success of 2025, has been released on OTT after grossing a lot of money in theaters. However, the film’s OTT release has sparked concerns among fans. These questions are about the film’s runtime. The OTT version of Dhurandhar (3 hours 25 minutes) is less than the theatrical version (3 hours 34 minutes). Fans not only questioned why this was the case, but several also alleged that Netflix had omitted certain speech and expletives from the film.
A spokesman from Netflix India confirmed News channel that no scenes from the film had been deleted. But, why is there a 9-minute discrepancy between the OTT and theatrical versions? Let us find out.
It’s the creators, not Netflix!
In chat with News channel , industry sources explained the differences in runtime and dialogue. They stated that directors occasionally adjust the tempo of the film or truncate the credits before putting it on OTT. This is frequently done to improve the watching experience for the audience. Scenes that were not featured in the theatrical release are occasionally added, while others are omitted. It depends on what is best for the audience. However, all adjustments are made by the production house, and the platform has been notified accordingly.
Dhurandhar is three minutes shorter on the OTT.
A few weeks after the film’s release, the Baloch community filed a petition protesting their portrayal in the film, notably a dialogue delivered by Sanjay Dutt. Following this, the court ordered the filmmakers to change some scenes. The updated version opened in theaters on January 1.
According to the CBFC certificates issued on December 4 and January 5, the updated duration is about 209 minutes (3 hours and 29 minutes). The Netflix version is around three minutes shorter than the stated 10 minutes on social media.

Disclaimers have been removed from the OTT version.
According to sources, the theater version has mandatory smoking disclaimers, which may not display on OTT channels. This could result in a tiny change in runtime. However, the producers have yet to clarify the explanation for the film’s shortened runtime.
It is vital to emphasize that Netflix or any other platform does not have the authority to cut or change a film. Streaming platforms only show the version given by the creators. They primarily serve as distributors, showing the film to their paying customers. If any changes were made, they would have been implemented by the producers.
