Khaleda Zia’s health concerns
Khaleda Zia, 80, has been taken to a private hospital in Dhaka since November 23 after contracting a severe chest infection that impacted both her heart and lungs.
According to BNP leaders, her condition deteriorated in the days after her admission. Four days after being admitted to the hospital, physicians transferred her to the coronary care unit as several health issues worsened.
She has now been placed on ventilator, with medical teams consisting of both local and international professionals supervising her care.

Advocate Ahmed Aazam Khan, the BNP Vice Chairman, classified her situation as extremely grave, stating that she is in critical condition. There is nothing more to do but request prayers from the entire country. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also stated that Zia’s situation remains perilous, adding that she is extremely ill and that physicians are doing their best.
According to party leaders, her medical state has been rather stable in recent days. Zia has long suffered from a variety of health problems, including liver and renal troubles, as well as diabetes, arthritis, and chronic eye conditions.
She returned to Bangladesh on May 6 this year, having spent four months in London receiving specialist medical treatment.
