The Vivo S50 series phones, which are the successors to the Vivo S30 family, will have major camera improvements. According to a recent confirmation from a prominent Vivo official, the new models would use a Sony IMX882 periscope telephoto sensor for increased zoom and portrait shooting capabilities in the mid-premium segment.
The series is anticipated to have two models: the Vivo S50 and the Vivo S50 Pro Mini, both of which are likely to keep Vivo’s emphasis on superior camera hardware.
Sony IMX882 telephoto sensor confirmed
Vivo Product Manager Han Boxiao revealed on Weibo that all S50 series devices would include a Sony IMX882 1/1.95-inch periscope telephoto camera with a 50-megapixel resolution.
He noted that the phones will use the same “clear and natural portrait algorithm” as Vivo’s flagship models to boost facial detail and overall picture quality.
This is a significant upgrade for the S-series, which has historically excelled at portraiture and selfies.
Camera arrangement comparable to the Vivo S30 series is expected
According to reports, the Vivo S50 and S50 Pro Mini may be equipped with cameras comparable to those found on previous models.
For reference, consider the Vivo S30.

This trend is expected to continue with the S50 series, which will feature high-resolution sensors on all main lenses.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is confirmed for Vivo S50 Pro Mini
The Vivo S50 Pro Mini will be powered by Qualcomm’s forthcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 5.
The chipset will be officially announced soon, and the S50 Pro Mini could be among the first phones to use it.
