New Delhi [India] : On Wednesday, President Alexander Stubb of Finland arrived in New Delhi as part of a State Visit to India. He was greeted ceremoniously.

Randhir Jaiswal, a spokesman for the Ministry of External Affairs, wrote on X, “A warm welcome to India! President Alexander Stubb of the Republic of Finland has arrived in New Delhi on a State Visit to India.”

The post claims that Minister of State for External Affairs V. K. Singh greeted President Stubb at the airport and presented him with a Guard of Honour.

The chief guest and keynote speaker of India’s premier geopolitics and geoeconomics conference, the Raisina Dialogue 2026, would be the Finnish leader.

“India and Finland share a warm and friendly relationship rooted in shared democratic values,” Jaiswal said, highlighting the two countries’ close ties. He also added that President Stubb’s visit “will impart further energy to India-Finland relations.”

According to MEA’s release on Tuesday, the visit, which will feature a high-level team of ministers, senior officials, and business leaders, is intended to strengthen bilateral ties and increase cooperation between Finland and India in a number of sectors.

 

President Stubb will be the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker at the 11th Raisina Dialogue, which will take place in New Delhi from March 5–7. This will be Stubb’s first trip to India as President, according to an official statement.

President Stubb will meet with the Prime Minister in addition to attending the Raisina Dialogue, with an emphasis on bolstering bilateral ties and tackling regional and international issues of shared concern.

The discussion of cooperation in international forums, with a focus on strengthening interpersonal ties and business alliances, will be a major highlight of the visit. According to the statement, Prime Minister Modi will throw a luncheon in honour of President Stubb after the talks.

The Finnish president will also have meetings with Vice President CP Radhakrishnan and President Droupadi Murmu. President Stubb will also meet with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.

Following his stay in the capital, President Stubb will go to Mumbai to meet with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Governor Acharya Devvrat of Maharashtra. He will speak to University of Mumbai students and engage with local business leaders.

Finland and India have a friendly, complex relationship based on common democratic ideals. As India’s partner in the European Union and the Nordic region, Finland is crucial.

President Stubb’s visit comes after Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo visited India in February for the AI Impact Summit, demonstrating both nations’ dedication to strengthening their bonds and improving bilateral collaboration.
