Gaza Disarmament Deal : A major diplomatic claim made by US President Donald Trump has sparked global interest, but huge political and security difficulties remain before any suggested accord can become a reality.
On July 30, Trump said that his “Board of Peace” had achieved a Gaza Disarmament Deal that aimed to completely disarm Hamas and all other armed factions operating in the Gaza Strip. He described the plan as a critical step toward lowering violence and establishing a long-term security framework for Israelis and Palestinians.
According to Trump, the agreement is part of a larger 20-point peace program that aims to integrate security measures, political transition, and reconstruction operations into a unified Gaza blueprint.
Gaza Disarmament Deal Could Mark a Diplomatic Breakthrough
Trump stated that the anticipated Gaza Disarmament Agreement would be executed in segments rather than all at once. According to the proposal, Israeli military withdrawals would coincide with the phased disarmament process, while a newly constituted Palestinian police force would gradually take over responsibility for preserving peace and order.
He also stated that an International Stabilization Force would assist with security and governance during the transition.
Trump commended Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey as playing critical roles in bringing negotiations closer to the proposed accord. He complimented the mediators for their efforts to overcome gaps during ongoing talks aimed at lowering regional tensions.
The concept also envisions a new Palestinian administration in Gaza that will work with the “Board of Peace” while resolving Israel’s security concerns.
Gaza Disarmament Deal Faces Major Challenges
Despite Trump’s declaration, discussions are still tough and unresolved.
Officials involved with the Cairo talks said recent discussions have shown signs of progress, with Hamas reportedly responding positively to several aspects of the proposal. However, significant differences exist concerning disarmament conditions and the future of Israel’s military involvement in Gaza.
According to reports, an Israeli official believes the current proposal is unsatisfactory since it falls short of Israel’s hopes for complete demilitarization. This means that significant difficulties must be addressed before any deal can be implemented.
Violence has also continued during the talks. Palestinian medical sources claimed that Israeli airstrikes killed at least six Palestinians on Thursday, including two children, emphasizing the unstable security situation despite ongoing diplomatic attempts.
The Gaza conflict has caused massive destruction, displaced a large number of Palestinians, and resulted in a major humanitarian situation. International leaders have frequently called for a long-term political solution that addresses both security and humanitarian demands.
