NEET UG 2026 Cancelled as CBI Launches Nationwide Investigation

NEET UG 2026 Cancelled : NEET UG 2026, India’s largest medical entrance test, has been cancelled following major claims of question paper leakage that sparked countrywide outrage. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has stated that the May 3, 2026 assessment will be retaken, with new exam dates to be announced separately.

The decision has impacted lakhs of students who took the highly competitive examination to gain admission to MBBS and other medical programmes across the country. Officials said the cancellation was granted after investigation agencies shared information about potential irregularities in the exam procedure.

Previously, the NTA disputed paper leak concerns and insisted that the examination was carried out under strict security measures. The agency stated that AI-powered CCTV systems, biometric verification, GPS tracking of question papers, and 5G jammers were employed during the exam.

Investigation Deepens Around NEET UG 2026 Cancelled Case

The controversy erupted after Rajasthan’s Special Operations Group (SOG) apparently began probing materials with questions that appeared to match the genuine NEET paper. According to reports, several of the questions circulated before the exam were similar to those asked on the final examination.

According to reports, numerous persons have already been detained as part of the inquiry. Authorities are investigating whether an organised network operating across various jurisdictions leaked question papers before the exam.

The NTA stated that it got information about alleged wrongdoing on May 7 and quickly shared the findings with central agencies the following day. The organization also stated that the primary purpose is to protect honest students and maintain faith in the national test system.

Many pupils and parents have expressed displeasure that months of preparation have now turned into uncertainty. Several coaching centres and education experts feel the re-exam will put additional mental strain on candidates, particularly those who traveled great distances and prepared under tight deadlines.

Students Wait As NEET UG 2026 Cancelled Re-Exam Dates Expected Soon

Officials have confirmed that applicants will not have to register anew for the re-examination. Existing application information is expected to remain valid for the new exam. New admit cards and updated timetables will be distributed via official means in the coming weeks.

The controversy has also sparked new concerns about the security of competitive exams in India. Several recruiting and admission tests have faced suspicions of paper leaks in recent years, prompting calls for enhanced digital monitoring and harsher penalties for exam fraudsters.

According to education experts, authorities’ largest issue will now be regaining student confidence. While many candidates welcome the cancellation out of fairness, others are concerned about losing crucial study time and experiencing additional stress before the new exam date is revealed.
