Kuwait Oil Refinery Catches Fire Following Drone Strike, Report Says

KUWAIT CITY  ( Kuwait Oil Refinery) : Drone strikes set fire to Kuwait’s Mina Al-Ahmadi oil refinery on Friday, official media claimed, as authorities in multiple Gulf states responded to Iran-related attacks.

Iran has increased attacks on Gulf energy infrastructure in recent days, targeting refineries and Qatar, the world’s largest gas hub, in retaliation for Israeli raids on its South Pars gas facility.

According to the official Kuwait News Agency and the national oil corporation, “several hostile drone attacks” targeted the Mina Al-Ahmadi facility, causing fires but no injuries.

It claimed firemen were working to put out the fires as “several refinery units were shut down.”

The Kuwaiti army has previously said that air defences were “responding to hostile missile and drone threats.”

In Kuwait, an army statement stated air defences were “responding to hostile missile and drone threats,” while official media in the UAE reported “incoming missile and drone threats from Iran.”

Saudi Arabia’s defence ministry reported that within two hours, its forces had “intercepted and destroyed” over a dozen drones in the country’s east and one in the north.

Friday’s incident occurred as Kuwait observed Eid al-Fitr. Authorities said firemen were battling the latest wildfire, and there were no immediate reports of injuries.

The hit is part of a larger escalation, with Iran increasing attacks on energy installations in Gulf countries following Israel’s bombing of its South Pars gas facility earlier this week.

Trump has also warned that if Iran continues to strike regional energy assets, the United States will respond.

“I do not want to authorise this level of violence and destruction because of the long-term implications that it will have on the future of Iran,” he further stated.
