Dubai : Fire Erupts in Umm Al Quwain Building After Drone Strike

Dubai : According to reports citing officials, a drone attack set fire to oil facilities in Fujairah, and another hit near Dubai International Airport led authorities to temporarily cancel flights. Authorities in the UAE reported that a fire broke out in the Fujairah Oil Industries region following a drone strike.

The Fujairah port is strategically vital since it is the country’s only export route that skirts the Strait of Hormuz, a critical worldwide oil transport chokepoint.

This is the second time Iran has struck Fujairah with drones, resulting in enormous fire.

Oil-loading operations have been halted at Fujairah’s major bunkering hub.

Earlier on March 14, some oil-loading operations in Fujairah were halted due to a drone strike and the subsequent fire, according to industry and trade sources.

Fujairah is recognised as a significant bunkering center and oil export terminal. The outage occurred just hours after the US launched strikes on military targets on Kharg Island, Iran’s main oil export facility.

Dubai Airport temporarily suspends flights following a nearby drone strike.

Flights at Dubai International Airport were briefly halted after a drone strike targeted facilities near the airport.

Officials reported the incident damaged fuel tanks near the airport, causing emergency personnel to respond. As a precaution, many planes were forced to circle outside the airport as police dealt with the incident.

The interim suspension came only days after another incident caused a brief disruption in airport operations.

Emirates, the main airline operating from the airport, stated that flights had been halted throughout the incident.

Iran accuses the UAE of assisting US strikes.

Tehran officials said that the US used “ports, docks, and hideouts” in the UAE to conduct strikes on Kharg Island, home to Iran’s primary oil export terminal.

However, no evidence was offered to back up the assertion as the conflict continued.

Responding to the developments, Anwar Gargash, the UAE president’s diplomatic adviser, stated that the country reserves the right to self-defence.

Gargash stated on social media that the UAE “still prioritises reason and logic, and continues exercising restraint.”
