US : Director Maggie Kang cried after accepting the Oscar for her film ‘KPop Demon Hunters’.
‘KPop Demon Hunters’ won the Oscar for best animated movie at the Academy Awards on Sunday night.

Kang said in her victory speech, “Thank you to the Academy and all fans who got us here, and for those of you who look like me.”
Maggie dedicated her prize to Koreans, saying, “I’m sorry it took us so long to see us in a movie like this. But it’s here. And that means that the next generations don’t have to go longing. This is for Korea and for Koreans everywhere.”
Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans directed the film, while Michelle L.M. Wong produced it. Kang and Wong became the first female Asian winners of the best animated feature award, according to Variety.
Before the Oscars, ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ won best animated feature at the Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice Awards, and PGA Awards.”This is for Korea and Koreans everywhere,” co-director Maggie Kang told the crowd, accompanied by co-director Chris Applehans and producer Michelle Wong.

The film portrays the story of HUNTR/X, a popular K-pop girl group whose members also work as weapons-wielding demon hunters. Their songs contribute to the creation of a magical barrier known as the Honmoon, which safeguards humanity.

The role of demon hunter is passed down through generations.
The current trio, Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, are feisty women who dress beautifully but are also hilarious and eat Korean food in between performances and hunting missions.
They must confront the Saja Boys, a demon boy band dispatched by the demon ruler Gwi-ma to weaken the Honmoon. A war for humanity ensues.
The film draws on the concept of shamanism, which is the practice of using intermediaries to engage with the spiritual world, and includes sweeping recreations of the Seoul skyline.
The song received a Golden Globe and a Critics Choice Award for best original song in a motion picture, as well as a Grammy for best song composed for visual media.
