ABU DHABI: On Sunday, authorities in the UAE declared that a fire that started at an oil plant in Abu Dhabi as a result of a drone strike had been contained.

According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the Abu Dhabi Media Office announced in a statement that the Emirate’s competent authorities were successful in extinguishing the fire that started after a drone attacked an oil facility in the Ruwais area last Tuesday.

According to the statement, emergency response teams attempted to limit the blaze and are currently implementing post-fire cooling procedures.

Officials said that there were no human casualties.

Earlier on Saturday, the UAE Ministry of Defence announced that it detected and repelled a new Iranian attack including nine ballistic missiles and 33 drones.

According to the ministry, since the start of the Iranian strikes, UAE air defences have intercepted 294 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,600 drones.

Iran continues to launch missile and drone assaults on numerous Arab countries, notably the UAE, resulting in deaths and material damage to infrastructure as the region’s military escalation continues as a result of the US-Israeli-Iranian conflict.

UAE sends mobile alert, claiming situation is now’safe’.

The Ministry of Defence has issued a mobile notice to UAE residents clarifying that the country is currently safe, following prior warnings about potential missile threats.

The message, which was delivered throughout the UAE, thanked locals for their cooperation and promised the public that normal operations could now resume.

UAE responds to incoming Iranian missiles and drones.

The UAE ministry of military claimed in a statement on X that its air defences were “currently responding to incoming missile and drone threats from Iran”.

“MOD asserts that the sounds heard are the result of the Air Defence Systems intercepting missiles and drones,” a statement read.
