Tehran: As the Middle East’s battle intensifies, alarms were heard early Friday at Turkey’s Incirlik Air Base , a crucial NATO site where US forces are stationed near the southeastern city of Adana, according to state news agency Anadolu. However, there was no immediate government response to the incident, which occurred four days after NATO air defences shot down a ballistic missile fired from Iran in Turkish airspace, the second in five days.

Incirlik Air Base : In Adana, sirens cause terror.
According to the Ekonomim business news website, residents of Adana, which is 10 kilometres (six miles) from the base, were woken up at 3:25 a.m. (0025 GMT) by sirens that rang for about five minutes. According to the report, a red alert was issued at the base.
Several others recorded mobile phone footage of a bright image soaring through the sky on social media, raising the possibility that it was a missile headed for the airbase, according to the report. Sirens from fire engines and security personnel could be heard around the city for an extended period of time, it added.

NATO stated that it shot down a second ballistic missile fired from Iran.
NATO said it shot down a second ballistic missile fired by Iran on Monday, leading Turkey to warn Tehran not to take “provocative steps”. The announcement came shortly after Washington announced the closure of its consulate in Adana, encouraging all American citizens to leave southeastern Turkey.
Since the start of the US-Israeli war on Iran, Tehran has launched attacks around the region. Turkey seems to be spared. In addition to the Incirlik airbase, US forces are stationed at Kurecik, another Turkish NATO installation in the country’s center, where a Patriot missile defence system was deployed on Tuesday. On March 4, NATO air defences intercepted the first missile in Turkish airspace.
