Lucknow : In the midst of rising Middle Eastern tensions and disruptions in global energy supply, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath warned Wednesday that anyone propagating falsehoods about oil or gas shortages in Uttar Pradesh will face severe consequences.
The Chief Minister issued clear instructions to all District Magistrates and police chiefs across the state, ordering them to remain vigilant and prevent public panic as a result of disinformation. “Black marketing of petrol and oil will not be tolerated under any conditions. “Those who spread rumours will not be spared,” CM Yogi added, asking officials to keep a close eye on the issue.
Following the instructions of U.P Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath , social media is being monitored.
Following the Chief Minister’s directive, social media platforms are being monitored more closely at both the police headquarters and district levels in order to identify and prosecute individuals propagating false information.
Police officers in all areas have also been advised to keep a close eye on petrol pumps to prevent hoarding and criminal activity.
At the same time, district administrations and supply department officials have been instructed to conduct inspections of petrol stations and retailers. Authorities have been instructed to take harsh action against anyone found unlawfully storing LPG cylinders.

West Asia Conflict
The state government’s warning comes as global energy supplies are being disrupted due to the ongoing violence in West Asia. The problem has affected around 30% of India’s gas supplies, causing the Union government to implement emergency measures.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas published a gazette notice mandating that available gas be redirected from non-priority sectors to important customers.

India now imports approximately half of its daily natural gas requirement of 191 million standard cubic metres per day (mmscmd). However, with tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz blocked, around 60 mmscmd of gas supplies from the Middle East have been impacted.
In response to supply challenges, the Union government has enforced a 25-day inter-booking time for home LPG refills to moderate demand and ensure equitable distribution.
The scarcity has occurred against the backdrop of global supply interruptions caused by the escalating West Asian war. In response, the Centre has used the important Commodities Act to prioritise LPG provision to households, hospitals, and important services, while restricting commercial supplies in many locations.
According to the petroleum ministry, the new directive outlines a clear priority structure for natural gas allocation. Domestic piped gas for houses and CNG for vehicles will have 100% guaranteed supply under the agreement, but other sectors will face calibrated supply limits based on their average consumption over the previous six months.
