Mysterious Post Shared From Khamenei’s X Account Following Trump’s Death Announcement

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s official X account released a brief and cryptic message early Sunday, hours after US President Donald Trump made a public statement claiming the Iranian leader had been dead. Google Translate was used to translate the Persian post. “In the name of Nami Haider (peace be upon him)” was the precise translation in English.

The communication was short and provided no clarification, background information, or assurance. It didn’t specifically address the allegations made in relation to Khamenei’s purported passing. Iran’s supreme political and religious authority, Khamenei, has been in power since 1989.

The most recent communication, however, stood out because of when it was posted and its religious content. In Islamic tradition, the name “Haider” is frequently linked with Imam Ali, and the phrase “peace be upon him” is commonly used in religious contexts. However, the specific meaning or aim of the term is unknown.

Trump claimed Khamenei’s assassination offers an opportunity for the Iranians to recapture their country. Many of Iran’s military and police personnel are no longer willing to fight and are seeking “immunity” from the United States, according to Trump, who also wants Iran’s Republican Guards will “peacefully merge” with Islamic Republic patriots.
