Lexus LX : Lexus India, Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s premium vehicle manufacturing branch, has issued a recall for its LX SUV. The SUV, which started at Rs 2.80 crore (ex-showroom), has been recalled due to a potential gearbox fault. It applies to 117 units of the model produced between March 6, 2025 and September 29, 2025.
Lexus LX has a 10-speed automatic transmission
According to the automaker’s official release, the Lexus LX has a 10-speed automatic transmission that uses linear solenoids to manage gear shifts. If the solenoid fails under specific driving conditions, the gearbox control unit and engine ECU may not transmit the breakdown due to a software fault. If not addressed, it might result in transmission over-revving in certain gears.
The company adds, “This could result in gearbox damage and a loss of motive power while driving at greater speeds. If the gearbox casing is damaged, gearbox fluid may flow from it.

The issue can be resolved by updating the control unit firmware. It should be noted that this recall coincides with an international recall issued by the company for the SUV. Overall, this is the fourth recall for the current generation of the LX since its introduction. In a broader sense, it contradicts the brand’s image of producing highly reliable devices.

The Lexus LX 500d model is currently on sale in India, and it comes with a 10-speed automated gearbox and a 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine that delivers 304 hp and 700 Nm of torque at peak performance. To make matters better, the vehicle has an adaptive variable suspension and four-wheel active height adjustment.
Previous issues with Toyota automobiles in 2026
The present Lexus issue was the continuation of a string of Toyota mechanical breakdowns in early 2026. GR Supra sports vehicles, in example, were previously recalled due to the possibility of starter activation, as were Prius hybrids, where a flaw in the rear door locks caused them to release spontaneously while driving. To reduce the possibility of emergency scenarios on the road, the business offers to provide free maintenance and software updates to owners.
