Rajpal Yadav, a Bollywood actor, has found himself in legal problems when the Delhi High Court ordered him to surrender to the concerned jail superintendent by Wednesday, February 4, 2026, revoking the leniency previously granted to him in a series of cheque dishonour cases.
Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma commented that the court had provided tremendous indulgence to the petitioner over a long length of time, based only on assurances that the issue would be settled amicably and that monies would be made to the complaint corporation.
Delhi High Court orders Rajpal Yadav to surrender in cheque bounce cases.
The trial court’s judgment was put on hold in June 2024 to allow Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav time to settle the case. However, the pledges made in subsequent court rulings were not fulfilled.
The Court noted that, despite multiple clear deadlines, the petitioner failed to make payments totaling several crores of rupees. Even the part payments he promised, via demand drafts and instalments, were not made on time.
Notably, the Court rejected the justifications for technical or typographical faults in the demand drafts as insufficiently compelling.

The judge further stated that the pledges were made openly in court by senior lawyers, and that more time was granted solely on the petitioner’s own instructions.

The High Court refused to grant any additional remedy due to his repeated breaches of these obligations and admitted culpability. It ruled that the money already placed with the Registrar General be released to the complaining corporation and commanded the petitioner to surrender by 4 p.m. on February 4, 2026, to serve the sentence imposed by the trial court.
Time provided for surrender and the next hearing.
It should be underlined that the limited period permitted for surrender was granted solely in the interest of justice, after the petitioner notified the court that he was working professionally in Mumbai. The case has been scheduled for February 5, 2026, to ensure compliance by the relevant correctional authorities.
