Iran–US tensions : On Saturday, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian told his Egyptian colleague on the phone, “We hope the other side has also come to understand that Iran cannot be forced into negotiations through threats or the use of force.”
Activists accuse security forces of killing thousands of people and injuring many more by firing directly on protesters, often with birdshot, which can leave metal pellets trapped in the body unless hygienically retrieved by a professional.
However, rights groups claim that officials have scoured hospitals in search of those with wounds that indicate they were involved in protests, according to AFP. Meanwhile, the World Health Organization reports that at least five doctors have been detained for treating them.

In reaction to Iran’s lethal suppression of anti-government demonstrations in recent weeks, the United States penalized Iran’s interior minister and other officials on Friday.
According to a US Treasury Department statement on the penalties, Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni “oversees the murderous Law Enforcement Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran (LEF), a key entity responsible for the deaths of thousands of peaceful protesters.”
Iranian army chief Amir Hatami warned the US and Israel on Saturday against an attack, saying his country’s forces were on high alert due to Washington’s significant military deployments in the Gulf.
According to the official Iranian news agency, Hatami said, “If the enemy makes a mistake, without a doubt, it will endanger its own security, the security of the region, and the security of the Zionist regime.”
Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian said over the phone with his Egyptian colleague on Saturday, “We hope the other side has also come to understand that Iran cannot be forced into negotiations through threats or the use of force.”He declared that there will be a firm and decisive reaction to any invasion or assault on Iranian territory.
