Sunny Deol made a strong comeback with Border 2, which performed well at the box office. The war picture, which also stars Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, has started in double digits and is capitalizing on the patriotic mood ahead of Republic Day 2026.
The year began with Dhurandhar ruling the box office. Border 2 now holds the lead. On its first day, the military drama grossed more than Ranveer Singh’s spy thriller, giving it a stronger start. When Day 1 collections are compared, Border 2 comes out ahead. The film’s future performance will determine whether it will surpass Dhurandhar’s entire lifetime revenues.
Border 2 wins Dhurandhar on the first day.
Border 2 made roughly Rs 30 crore on the first day, somewhat more than Dhurandhar, which earned about Rs 28 crore on Day 1. While Dhurandhar went on to become a huge global success, Border 2 has easily taken the lead on its first day. The film is only slightly behind Chhaava, which grossed Rs 32 crore. The film could gross more than Rs 100 crore in its opening weekend.
Border 2, Dhurandhar faces prohibition in Gulf marketplaces.
Border 2, like Dhurandhar, would not be released in Gulf countries, according to reports. The film has been prohibited in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Indian films that prominently depict anti-Pakistan themes frequently suffer distribution hurdles in the Middle East.
