Firefighters and emergency teams rushed to Gul Plaza shortly after 10 p.m. local time following reports of a blaze. Local media reported that most shop owners were either closing their stores or had already left when the fire broke out and spread rapidly.

Firefighting Efforts Amid Pakistan Shopping Mall Fire

Television footage showed firefighters in protective gear battling the flames using ladders, water cannons, and fire hoses. Thick black smoke was seen billowing into the night sky, visible from several streets away, an Associated Press reporter at the scene said.

The fire reportedly intensified after spreading to areas where shops stored imported textiles, garments, and plastic household goods, which acted as fuel and accelerated the blaze.
