India travel advisory for Venezuela : India warned its citizens to avoid all non-essential travel to Venezuela on Saturday night, citing the scenario resulting from the US abduction of the oil-rich country’s president.

The Ministry of External Affairs has also advised all Indians in Venezuela to take great caution and limit their movements.
According to President Donald Trump, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro was arrested during a large-scale US strike on the capital city of Caracas.
The US move has caused political unrest in the South American country, with many major powers, including Russia and China, condemning Washington for the operation and capture of Maduro and his wife.

“Indian nationals are strongly advised to avoid all non-essential travel to Venezuela in light of recent developments,” the ministry of external affairs stated. “All Indians who are in Venezuela for any reason are advised to exercise extreme caution, restrict their movements, and remain in contact with the Embassy of India in Caracas,” it said.

The ministry encouraged Indians to contact the embassy via phone at 58-412-9584288 (also for WhatsApp calls) and email.
Venezuela has approximately 50 non-resident Indians and 30 persons of Indian origin.
After the operation in Caracas, Trump shared a photo of Maduro aboard the US battleship USS Iwo Jima.
According to US authorities, Maduro is being extradited to New York to face accusations related to narcotics cartels.
