Motorola hints about first book-style foldable at CES 2026, coupled with the new Signature Era.

Motorola, a popular smartphone maker, has revealed that it would introduce a new flagship foldable smartphone at the CES 2026 in Las Vegas. Sergio Buniac, President of Motorola Mobility, posted the teaser in a LinkedIn post (dated December 31, 2025), indicating the first official glimpse at the future device.

The teaser image shows a curved form, a textured rear panel, and what appears to be the future device’s quad-camera configuration. While Motorola has not yet revealed the product’s name, the language definitely suggests a significant shift in its premium smartphone strategy.

This could be Motorola’s first book-style foldable

After all these years, Motorola’s foldable portfolio was confined to the Razr series, which had a clamshell (flip-style) design. However, the industry has reported, and recent hits indicate that the next tablet may be the company’s first book-style foldable. This means it will compete directly with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series, which has dominated numerous countries, including India.

In his post, Buniac stated, “On January 6th, we’ll set a new bar for what a flagship device can be,” adding that this introduction will mark the brand’s new signature period at Lenovo Tech World 2026.

Leaks suggest tiny cover display.

Earlier rumors indicate that Motorola’s book-style foldable may not take the typical huge cover display method seen on Samsung’s popular Galaxy Z Fold and Google’s Pixel Fold devices.

Instead, it could have a tiny exterior screen, akin to the Razr family, that allows users to accomplish tasks without opening the device.

Regarding appearance and design, the next book-style folding gadget will have a wood-inspired or textured finish, which may help the brand stand out in a market dominated by metal or glass rear panels and designs.

Why is the foldable industry growing?

Foldable smartphones are rapidly increasing in popularity and demand around the world. According to Counterpoint Research, foldable smartphone shipments may increase by 38% this year, with book-style foldables driving the boom.

According to speculations, Apple may unveil its first foldable iPhone in late 2026, making the competition even tougher.

Motorola Signature offers new premium handsets.

The company has revealed that it would unveil the ‘Motorola Signature’, a new premium smartphone, on January 7, 2026.

The gadgets will have a fabric-style finish and will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 CPU with flagship-grade cameras.

According to advertising teasers, the device would have a flat display with a central selfie camera cutout.
