US President Donald Trump called on nations to unite against radical Islam while visiting Jewish Americans at the White House to commemorate the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah.
Trump said
Days after two Muslim gunmen killed 15 people in one of Australia’s worst mass shootings, Trump said at a White House press briefing on Wednesday, “Let me take a moment to send the love and prayers to the people of Australia, especially those affected by the horrific and anti-semitic terrorist attack that took place on a Hanukkah celebration in Sydney… All nations must stand together against the evil forces of radical Islamic terrorism,” Trump said.

On Sunday, a significant number of Jews were attending a Hanukkah event at Bondi Beach when the attack occurred. At a Jewish celebration at the famous beach, Sajid Akram and his son Naveed opened fire.

The incident, according to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, was an act of antisemitic terrorism that affected the core of the country. The gunmen, according to the authorities, were a father and his son.
The massacre at one of Australia’s most popular beaches followed a wave of antisemitic attacks that had shaken the country over the previous year, though authorities said there was no evidence the earlier crimes were related to the shooting on Sunday. It was the bloodiest shooting in nearly 30 years in a country recognized for strong gun control legislation.

Police fatally shot one gunman, a fifty-year-old male. The second shooter, his 24-year-old son, was wounded and being treated in hospital, according to New South Wales Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon.
Police claimed one of the gunman was known to security agencies, but Lanyon said there was no evidence of a planned attack.
New South Wales Premier Chris Minns told reporters that those slain ranged in age from 10 to 87 years. On Monday morning, at least 42 others were being treated in hospitals, including some in severe condition.
