Ellyse Perry : On December 7, Game 40 of the ongoing WBBL (Women’s Big Bash League) 2025 saw the Sydney Sixers women face the Adelaide Strikers women at the North Sydney Oval, and the match belonged to star all-rounder Ellyse Perry. Perry became only the second player in WBBL history to reach 5000 runs by scoring 111 runs in 71 deliveries for the Sixers.

It’s worth mentioning that Beth Mooney is the only other WBBL player with 5000 runs. While Mooney has 5446 runs in the tournament, Perry has 5072 runs, cementing her place as one of the WBBL’s all-time greats.

In regard to the game, the Sydney Sixers batted first, and Perry scored a century to lead the way. Sophia Dunkley added 54 runs to help the Sixers score 173 runs in the first innings.

Adelaide Strikers’ only wicket taker in the first innings was Eleanor Larosa, who bowled four overs. Larosa allowed 20 runs while claiming four wickets.

Sydney Sixers manage to pull out a close victory

To chase down the mark, Adelaide Strikers’ openers Tammy Beaumont and Madeline Penna scored 23 and 31 runs, respectively. Bridget Patterson was unbeaten, scoring 65 runs in 35 deliveries. Strikers came close to victory, but the Sixers won by one run.

Unlike the Strikers, the Sydney Sixers performed effectively with the ball. Lauren Cheatle and Ashleigh Gardner took the most wickets for the Sixers, with two each. Amelia Kerr and Caoimhe Bray collected one wicket each.
