Describe Pratibha Setu. A digital venue for applicants who did not make the UPSC Final Merit List.

Pratibha Setu

Pratibha Setu : On the 125th episode of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the introduction of “Pratibha Setu,” a digital portal for UPSC applicants who just missed the final merit list. On the portal, hopefuls can access information on over 10,000 individuals, which will assist them in future possibilities.

“My compatriots, you must have heard of UPSC. This institution administers the Civil Services test, which is one of the most difficult exams in the country. We’ve all heard many amazing anecdotes from civil service leaders. These young people study under terrible conditions and strive hard to get into this service, but there is another fact about the UPSC exam,” PM Modi stated.

What Is the Pratibha Setu?

  • Pratibha Setu was established for candidates who completed all stages of competitive UPSC exams, including Prelims, Mains, and Interviews, but did not make the final merit list.
  • The digital site was launched on June 19, 2025, and Prime Minister Modi addressed it today in his Mann Ki Baat.
  • It includes many tests, including Civil Services, Engineering Services, Forest Services, CAPF, Geo-Scientist, CDS, Medical Services, and IES/ISS.
  • It aims to ensure that their hard-earned talent does not go to waste.
  • The digital platform contains information about all UPSC students who completed all levels of various tests but were not selected for the final merit list.

How Does Pratibha Setu Work?

  • To get access to the portal, employers, including central ministries, PSUs, autonomous entities, and private enterprises, must first register (typically through Corporate Identification Number verification).
  • After verification, companies are given login credentials and can peruse candidate biodata (qualifications, exam details, contact information) in order to engage and hire them directly.
  • Employers can only reach applicants who have opted in and are visible to recruiters.

The Union Public Service Commission inaugurated the Pratibha Setu webpage, which serves as a repository for profiles of applicants who succeeded at all rounds of the arduous Civil Services Examination but did not make the final merit list.

By allowing corporate and public sector businesses to access this talent pool, the platform creates career chances for over 10,000 high-achieving individuals. This effort reduces the resource-intensive strain of recurrent exam preparation.

Addressing Civil Service Challenges

Modi emphasized the UPSC examinations’ fearsome nature, which are regarded as among the most competitive in the world and require significant time and money investment.

Candidates who miss out on the final list by a razor-thin margin frequently suffer serious consequences. Pratibha Setu bridges this gap, ensuring that their efforts convert into meaningful career opportunities.

In his remarks, the Prime Minister stated, “My fellow compatriots, you must have heard the name UPSC. This institution administers the Civil Services exam, which is one of the most difficult in the country. We have all heard many amazing anecdotes from Civil Service toppers. These young people study under terrible conditions and work hard to get into this service, but there is another fact about the UPSC exam.”

He went on to say, “There are thousands of such applicants who are highly capable; their hard work is equal to anyone else’s, but they are unable to make the final list by a small margin. These applicants must re-prepare for subsequent tests. This cost them time and money. That is why, for such earnest pupils, a digital platform called ‘Pratibha Setu’ has been created.”

‘ “Pratibha Setu’ stores the data of those candidates who cleared all the stages of various exams of UPSC, but their names did not appear in the final merit list,” the Prime Minister of India indicated.
