Gold and Silver Prices Today, Thursday, October 8, 2026, was volatile, as both precious metals began the session higher on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) before giving up some of their gains. The October 5 gold contract started at Rs 1,49,689 per 10 kilos, up from the previous close of Rs 1,49,103. The contract originally increased by Rs 586 and eventually touched an intraday high of Rs 1,49,900.

Profit booking pushed the contract lower. It reached Rs 1,48,965 during the session, down Rs 138 or 0.09% from the previous close. It was last seen at Rs 1,49,160, a gain of Rs 57 or 0.04%.

Another gold futures contract mentioned throughout the session was trading at Rs 1,51,188 per 10 grams, up Rs 13, or 0.01 percent, with 520 lots traded.

Gold Silver Price Today: MCX Levels and International Market

Silver opened higher on the MCX, but it eventually fell dramatically. The silver futures contract for December 4, 2026 opened at Rs 2,23,806, compared to the previous close of Rs 2,23,561.

The contract rose to an intraday high of Rs 2,24,652, up Rs 1,091, or 0.48 percent. It later dropped to Rs 2,20,769 before recovering somewhat. The last recorded price was Rs 2,21,367, down Rs 2,194 or 0.98 percent.

Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money, stated that MCX gold remained above the Rs 1,48,000 support level. He identified immediate resistance at Rs 1,50,000-1,50,700, followed by Rs 1,52,000-1,52,600.

On the downside, the next support levels were set at Rs 1,48,000-1,47,300, followed by Rs 1,46,000-1,45,300. He also remarked that gold was outperforming silver, a trend that was also apparent in overseas markets.

The international gold market also rose. COMEX gold rose 0.23 percent to about USD 4,150.1 per troy ounce. Spot gold was trading at USD 4,124.28 per ounce at 12:25 p.m., up USD 10.06 or 0.24 percent.

Prices varied depending on the city. In Delhi, 24-carat gold was purchased at Rs 1,49,700 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold was priced at Rs 1,37,250. Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai each had a 24-carat pricing of Rs 1,49,570 and a 22-carat cost of Rs 1,37,100 per 10 grams.

Silver was sold for Rs 2,35,000 per kg in Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata. Chennai saw a higher charge of Rs 2,45,000 per kilogram.

With both metals experiencing large intraday moves, MCX prices were vulnerable to buying and selling activity throughout the session.
