Xiaomi SkyNomad N70 and N90 SUVs Launched With Up to 1,705 Km Range

Xiaomi has launched its new Xiaomi SkyNomad N70 and N90 SUVs in China, expanding its lineup with extended-range electric vehicles aimed at families. The range includes four models, with prices starting at RMB 209,900 (around Rs 30 lakh) and going up to RMB 299,900 (around Rs 42 lakh).

The Kunlun Platform and Technical Architecture from Xiaomi serve as the foundation for the lineup. It includes the five-seaters N70 Pro and N70 Max, as well as the bigger seven-seaters N90 Max and N90 Max Studio. The top N90 Max Studio also has a pop-up camping roof.

The SkyNomad, unlike a completely electric SUV, is equipped with an extended-range electric vehicle system. Each model features a 1.5-litre petrol engine that serves as a generator, supplying power to the batteries and electric motors. Electric motors are the sole source of power for the wheels.

Xiaomi SkyNomad N70 and N90 SUVs Focus on Space

Xiaomi developed the SUVs with a heavy emphasis on cabin spaciousness. Their upright shape and lengthy wheelbases are meant to provide the spaciousness of an MPV while maintaining an SUV design.

The N90 Max has dimensions of 5,285 mm length, 1,998 mm width, and 1,825 mm height. It had a 3,080-mm wheelbase. The N70 Max is 4,960 mm long, 1,998 mm wide, and 1,765 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm.

The exterior has rounded-rectangle design elements such as headlights, taillights, door handles, and side cameras. Xiaomi also employed more than 140 aerodynamic features, including an active grille, to enable the SUVs reach a drag coefficient of 0.255.

Other features include touch or voice-activated electric doors, rear doors that open approximately 90 degrees, and an AI-based anti-collision door system. Privacy curtains are provided for the second and third rows, and an electronic side step is available as an option.

Battery, Performance and Driving Range

The N70 Pro has a single electric motor that powers the front wheels. It features a 52 kWh LFP battery and can generate 210 kW of power. The CLTC cycle estimates its electric-only range at 351 km, while the combined range is 1,351 km. The SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 7.9 seconds.

The N70 Max features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system and a larger 76-kWh battery. It has 505 km of electric range and 1,461 km of total range. It takes 5.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h.

Xiaomi’s N90 Max and N90 Max Studio feature a 79 kWh battery with dual motors capable of outputting 310 kW. Both models have a 464-kilometer electric range, with a combined range of 1,705 km.

Interior and Technology

The N70 Max sports a roomy interior that includes a 1,530 mm-wide center console, a two-spoke steering wheel, and hidden air vents. The seats have a 12-layer construction, with the front seats offering heating, ventilation, and massage. Depending on the model, purchasers can obtain up to four zero-gravity seats.

The cabin offers up to 1.55 meters of second-row legroom and 2,760 millimeters of occupant space. When all seven seats are used, the cargo room can extend to 1,831 liters and accommodate up to seven 20-inch luggage.

Technology is another important aspect of the SkyNomad series. All four variants include NVIDIA’s Thor assisted-driving processor, LiDAR, and radar, as well as a 16.1-inch 3K touchscreen and 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. The driver-support system features voice-activated assistance, automatic lane changes, and navigation that can guide you down to the parking space level.
