Shafali Verma two world records: India star makes history against Pakistan

Shafali Verma two world records became the highlight of India’s Women’s Asia Cup match against Pakistan in Dubai on Saturday. The 22-year-old India opener reached 3,000 T20I runs and became the youngest woman and fastest by balls faced to reach the milestone.

Shafali achieved the milestone at the age of 22 years and 220 days. Gaby Lewis of Ireland previously held the record for the youngest woman to achieve 3,000 T20I runs, at the age of 24 years and 347 days.

The Indian batsman also set a new record for scoring 3,000 T20I runs in the fewest deliveries. She reached the milestone after facing only 2,182 deliveries, surpassing Australia’s Alyssa Healy, who needed 2,321 balls.

Shafali has a distinct innings record. In her 113th innings, she scored 3,000 runs, becoming the fastest Indian woman to achieve the feat. Smriti Mandhana had already completed it in 122 innings, while Harmanpreet Kaur needed 135.

Beth Mooney of Australia continues to hold the overall record for scoring 3,000 T20I runs in the fewest innings. She accomplished the feat in only 100 innings.

Shafali opens with a six

Shafali delivered the milestone in her customary assertive manner. India needed only 56 runs to win, and she smashed the first ball she faced over long off for six.

She then took a single from the next delivery, bringing her T20I total to 3,000 runs. Shafali concluded the match with 12 runs off six balls, and India easily completed the chase.

Pakistan had been bowled out for 55 runs earlier in the match, their lowest score in Women’s T20I cricket. India won by seven wickets in Dubai after completing the target in just 8.4 overs.

Shafali also had an impact with the ball. She gave India their first breakthrough by removing Muneeba Ali for 13, ending Pakistan’s opening partnership of 27 runs.

Shafali has an amazing T20I record despite his young age of 22. Her most recent performance adds two world records to a career that still has many years ahead.
