Mussoorie Road Turns Slippery After Water Pipeline Damage, Riders Face Accident Risk

A damaged drinking water pipeline has caused thousands of litres of water to spill onto the Mussoorie road near Camel’s Back Road and the Sapphire Hotel. The water has spread across part of the road, making the surface slippery and increasing the risk of two-wheelers skidding.

The situation has apparently lasted several hours, with villagers claiming that the damaged pipeline has been brought to the notice of the Garhwal Jal Sansthan. However, the line hadn’t been fixed by late evening.

Water Flow Creates Risk on Mussoorie Road

According to residents, the continual leakage has left a huge stretch of the road wet. Two-wheelers on the route are especially risky since the slick surface might cause riders to lose control unexpectedly.

Camel’s Back Road is frequently traveled by both locals and visitors. Because of the heavy traffic on the road, people say the damaged pipeline should be fixed as soon as possible to avoid an accident.

The water running onto the road has also generated complaints about excessive waste. Residents said that thousands of liters of drinking water are being lost, while the city has experienced water supply issues at various times, particularly during the summer and tourism season.

Residents Question Delay in Repair Work

Locals have questioned why the damaged pipeline was not repaired immediately after it was discovered. They stated that the situation is no longer just about wasting water; the accumulating water has also become a safety hazard for drivers.

Residents have urged the concerned department to take quick action. They want the damaged pipeline fixed and the water removed from the roadway so that cars, particularly two-wheelers, may pass safely.

The event has also prompted doubts regarding the Garhwal Jal Sansthan’s response. Residents claimed that prompt maintenance could have avoided both the loss of drinking water and the risk to road users.

Officials from the Garhwal Jal Sansthan were approached for a statement, but they could not be reached. The department’s response to the damaged pipeline and repair work will be announced as soon as it is available.
