Chandigarh IED Terror Module Busted Near Sector 43 Bus Stand, Three Arrested

Chandigarh IED Terror Module : According to reports, Chandigarh Police disrupted a suspected terror operation after arresting three men and recovering an improvised explosive device (IED), explosive material, and guns near the Sector 43 Inter-State Bus Terminus. The operation was conducted out on Sunday, August 23, 2026, in response to intelligence reports about the potential movement of individuals affiliated to a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) module.

According to police, the suspected IED was concealed inside a tiffin box bag located behind the bus terminal. During the operation, a firearm, ammunition, and other components related to the suspected explosive device were discovered.

Chandigarh IED Terror Module Suspects Arrested

According to the Chandigarh Police, all three arrested suspects are from Punjab. They were identified as Lovepreet Singh, 19, of Sarhali village in Tarn Taran, Jashanpreet Singh alias Jashandeep, 21, of Deobath village in Tarn Taran, and Prabhpreet Singh alias Prabh, 19, of Tarsikka village in Amritsar.

Officials said intelligence reports revealed the presence of suspected BKI operatives in Chandigarh. Following the tip, police located the culprits and apprehended them behind the Sector 43 bus terminal.

Investigators are also examining the alleged links of the arrested men with Satnam alias Satta Naushera, who has been described in police reports as a foreign-based handler. Police suspect that the accused were allegedly planning to place an IED in Chandigarh with the intention of creating fear among the public.

Explosive Material and Firearms Recovered

During the operation, police reportedly seized approximately 5 kg of gelatin sticks, as well as a detonator, power source, and remotely operated system. A firearm, a magazine, and five live bullets were also seized.

The recovery has prompted investigators to look into the origins of the explosive material and how the suspects allegedly obtained the components. Authorities are also probing whether anyone else was engaged in the suspected scheme.

Chandigarh Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) in connection with the case. Further investigation is undertaken to determine the full extent of the recovery.

Security Increased Across Chandigarh

Following the recovery, police increased security around key locations and major public transportation hubs in Chandigarh. Authorities have encouraged to residents and travelers to be calm, stating that necessary precautions are being taken.

Investigators are now seeking to discover the larger network allegedly linked to the arrested people. The investigation will center on the source of the explosives, the IED’s suspected purpose, and the potential involvement of further associates.

The case has sparked interest because it apparently comes just a few weeks after another suspected BKI module was discovered in Chandigarh.

Earlier BKI Module Case in Chandigarh

Around July 26, police in Chandigarh reportedly busted another suspected BKI-linked module. During the operation, Satbir Singh, a native of Padiana village in Adampur, Jalandhar, was apprehended.

Authorities recovered an IED carrying around 1.3 kg of high explosive, as well as shrapnel and ball bearings. An FIR was then filed against the accused under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Explosive Substances Act, and the Arms Act.

The latest Chandigarh IED Terror Module case is still being investigated. Police are anticipated to collect more information by interviewing the arrested people and forensically examining the retrieved materials.

Officials are also investigating whether the individuals were part of a broader network operating in Punjab and other territories. Additional information is expected as the inquiry continues.

The claims against the arrested persons are part of an ongoing investigation, and they are assumed innocent unless proven guilty through legal means.
